Teachers are the backbone of country and is somehow responsible for the attitude of young generation. So, the need of implication in code of conduct and professional ethics in higher educational institutes is the need of hour. It provides a basis for ethical behavior in academic institutions to teaching staff as well as the students. Setting a professional code of Ethics provide a road map to approach and deal with problems in a morally and socially acceptable manner thereby imbibing honesty and integrity in the institutional ethics and work culture leading to a healthier work environment. Such code helps outline the mission and values of an organization and provides the groundwork for a pre-emptive warning in case of deviance/ non -compliance. Teachers as professionals engaged in the teaching learning process are required to show impartiality, integrity and ethical behaviour in the classroom and in their conduct with parents and colleagues. Code of ethics must be followed by institutions, so that teaching professionals maintain the integrity of their work by making the students an ethical base for the correct and incorrect. Apart from the UGC’s code of conduct guidelines, an independent professional ethics guidelines should be followed by each higher academic institution, so as to spread the concept of good and acceptable conduct among students. The department should conduct a professional ethics programme during the orientation session each year for newly admitted students, teachers and academic staff. It should prescribe the rules and regulations of appropriate and acceptable behavior. Thus, every organization must maintain a moral profile to gain credibility in the eyes of the stakeholders and build a good institutional image. Ethical conduct is to be practiced in all facets of the institutional operations and activities, policy decision making, implementation, and follow up. It is not only necessary to frame ethical standards but also to ensure that the standards and benchmarks set are followed in letter and spirit.

The Influence of Codes of Conduct on Ethical Behavior in Higher Education Institutions
In the contemporary generation, students must make a diverse range of ethical choices, many of which they are unsure of. Unfortunately, a lot of these issues have roots not just in their professional lives but also in their academic ones. A lack of knowledge about decision-making is the root cause of these problems. This problem presents an actual global dilemma. Codifying ethics can be a crucial step in promoting integrity and preventing unethical behavior in the workplace and higher education. However, there isn't enough proof to support the claim that behavior codes in colleges have any effect. Academic dishonesty has grown to be a significant problem in higher education institutions. Additionally, codes of conduct can serve as a foundation for morality and ethics in colleges and universities. This paper is to discuss the issues related to the code of ethics in online learning and offline learning, and the responsibilities of students, faculty, and administrators according to the code of professional ethics. Students cheat on exams and assignments while administrators and instructors are too busy to impose consequences under the codes of ethics. To protect the integrity of online teaching and learning, it is necessary to talk about these challenges from time to time. So, this paper suggests some potential improvements to achieve the goals of higher education institutions from an ethical behavioral aspect.
